The New Pool
In response to community demand for a swimming pool in the City of Kettle Falls, a generous benefactor has agreed to fund removal of the old swimming pool and construction of a new swimming pool in Kettle Falls at the same location. The new pool would be managed by the Upper Columbia Pool District and maintained by the city of Kettle Falls. The pool would provide public access for recreational swimming and lessons for youth and adults, water aerobics and rehabilitation, and competitive swimming.
Features of the New Pool
American Disabilities Act Compliant
Modern filtration system
Zero Entry w/ shallow pool
25 Yard Lap Lanes
Pool Design
Through many hours of researching, vetting builders, and designs we have settled on a plan. We have chosen our builders, WMS Aquatics out of Ellensburg, and have already approved design for the new pool which can be seen below. The pool is estimated to open by June 2024.
The Old Pool Blues
History and timeline of the Kettle Falls Community Pool
1960s
The Kettle Falls swimming pool was built with help from the Lions Club.
1980s
Bath house refurbished.
2012-14
Due to a lack of funding, volunteers held a fundraiser in 2012 and 2013 to operate the swimming pool. In 2014 the swimming pool closed.
2018
A great community effort was made to reopen the pool for a couple of weeks to conduct swimming lessons. Having the pool closed for three years reset the clock with the Dept. of Health and the pool needed to be brought up to current standards. This included a new sand filter, fencing, ADA lift, etc. The pool had also been leaking under the deck causing large voids making it too dangerous to open in its current state.
2021
Benefactor came forward and offered to build the community a new swimming pool.
Community voted in favor of passing a levy to fund operations of the new pool!
2022
Construction begins on new mechanical room for the pool.
2023
Community votes YES on the pool levy! Construction continues.
2024
New pool opens!
